This replaces an earlier model Kitchen Aid with custom panel. This gets my dishes spotless, literally. It is even quieter than the one I replaced. And, my old panel fit perfectly, so no hassle at all.

So happy! A dishwasher that doesn't require cleaning dishes before you clean them. Crazy! LOL! We have the cabinet front on it vs the stainless. Just one more thing that makes this a lovely part of our remodel. Works well. Love the adjustable rack and the bonus third rack has been awesome for spatulas and large top rack only lids. Truly happy. Love the rinse aid indicator and have been using the recommended dishwasher soap packs. Just happy!

State of the art design that cleans all manner of dishes/ pots and pans, well. I would suggest a better design regarding the pull out track system with the lower rack. If you don't pull out carefully, the rack will "slide" off of the indentations that serve as a guide for the lower rack rollers.

Broke after 9 months

Motor broke after 9 months. It was under warranty, so we had the motor replaced, but it never was the same. Didn't clean well and got very loud. Now the spray arm doesn't rotate because it hits the back of the dishwasher. All Kitchen Aid wants to do is sell me extended warranties. No more money for this lemon. Will replace with a machine from another manufacturer.

I like the dishwasher however, I bought a panel ready model and there are several issues! 1. the top of the panel is off center and it sticks our 1.4" on the left side! 2. There was no template included with the machine so installation was very challenging 3. There were no installation instructions for the panel included with the machine 4. Because the installation had to be done by a professional it was a $150 additional cost. 5. The dishwasher works fine but because the top portion of the dishwasher was not installed correctly from the manufacturer it doesn't look as nice as it should. We're very disappointed to say the least.

utterly failed after only a few cycles

Huge disappointment, serious failure of your quality control. Brand new DW worked for a few cycles, then died completely. Had to make numerous calls, had to wait a week for two control parts to arrive, then a day to get repairman to install. From the day we ordered it (5/13) until we had a working DW (6/20)-Over a month to get it to work. You should be embarrassed. My question: what do you plan to do compensate us for this?

About the same as every other dishwasher

Isn't it kind of ironic that you're charged more for a dishwasher where you have to supply your own door? It should be cheaper, but there you have it. This was purchased to replace a Bosch dishwasher that died. I have installed and repaired many dishwashers in our houses over the year and the awful secret is that under the skin they're all the same-a pump or two, some piping to get the water in and out, and a control panel to keep it all running. I'm sure that the basic Whirlpool model of this dishwasher performs exactly like this premium model-likely the only difference is the control panel. Compared to the Bosch, the Kitchenaid is definitely louder but I expect that's because the Bosch has much, much better sound insulation. Is the Bosch better overall? No. They're both machines that just splash water on dishes. Both get dishes perfectly clean on the express cycle. I got ours at about half off because it was a floor model-and I think that's about what it's worth.

Overall, the machine is good. The cycle is not too long and the machine is quiet. The heated dry feature is inconsistent. Perhaps it dries only half the time. The silverware top rack seems to hold the silverware in a clumsy manner. The items topple flat and do not sit upright, taking up more space than recommended.

Large Capacity With lots of cycle options

Bought this diswasher to replace a two drawer style dishwasher. Love the large capacity and the ability to raise and lower the racks. Like the top shelf for large utensils and flatware that doesn't fit into silverware bin. I have large square plates that didn't fit in my old dishwaser. My new KitchenAid handles them with no problem. The glassware comes out sparkling clean everytime. Also, the dishwasher is super quiet. I'm waiting on my cabinet maker to get the front panel to me. I think this diswasher is a good value for all the features.

After only 2 years, this needs a new pump and assembly control - repair estimate is nearly $600. We are a small family of 3, and this doesn't get heavy use. This came with our new home, and was chosen by the builder. At nearly $1000 MSRP, we had much higher hopes for this dishwasher. . Our old $300 machine outlasted this one by 8 years. If you are looking for a dishwasher, keep looking.

What a Disappointment

My 12-year-old Kitchenaid dishwasher had a meltdown in the control panel. Kitchenaid was great about offering me a deal on a replacement, directly through them. Getting the information, I needed to choose my replacement, however, was a challenge they could not help me with. I finally got the unit (panel ready). Who designs these dishwashers?? The top drawer pops out each time you open the door (even after having had it serviced), the basket for silverware has pre-cut slots that are totally useless and end slots with dividers that prevent large items, like can openers, from being placed in them (like on my old unit), the dinner plate holders let the plates roll from row to row when you pull the drawer out and you can't put two dinner plates side by side. The lower drawer often comes off track when it is pulled out. The door is SO sensitive to touch it lights up right away. SO many lights on this unit - I feel like I'm being guided on a runway. Never had a unit, in 40 years of dishwashers, smell like this - requiring an additional product purchase to prevent the smell. Such a poor design. Not to be entirely negative, the one thing that seems better than my last unit is the top-drawer capacity. I'm loyal to a product and try to buy American. I have always had Kitchenaid but his may be my last Kitchenaid.

Since installed, this dishwasher has never cleaned or dried a load of dishes. I have had kitchenaid dishwashers before, so thought this was a good purchase. Unfortunately, this model is a big fail. No setting, soap or rinse aid combination makes a difference. If there is one magic combination of settings, soap and rinse aid, then why have so many options to pick from? Also, with no dry washer, there is mold growing and odor in the the machine all the time. How is this considered a dish WASHER? I will give this machine a good rating on the noise level. It is VERY quiet, but I feel this is because the darn thing ISN'T WORKING !!!!!!!!! There isn't even warmth in front of or on top of the machine when it runs. By the way, I HAVE run hot water from the kitchen faucet before running the machine. This is so disappointing. I will have to try another brand if this is what to expect from Kitchenaid.

Defect in Maufacturing, Poor Quality Control

Purchased dishwasher approx 4 weeks ago. Recently noticed the wood floor in front of dishwasher and sink was buckling and turning dark. Called in Kitchen Aide Service and it was determined that there was a manufacturing defect in the inlet valve of the new dishwasher. This has resulted in significant damage to our lovely kitchen floor and possibly adjacent cabinets as well as potential mold problems. Currently waiting for a part to be installed to fix the dishwasher and total extent of damage to be determined.

Can't Use it Yet!

Handle-Less in MILFORD 9/18/2018

Purchased to DW a few weeks ago and when it was being installed there was no handle to open the door. When I called I was told the the panel-ready DWs must have a handle purchased separately. Really? It was not mentioned through the order process and when I I called to order it on 9/1 I was told it is not available until 9/25 and then it would take 7-10 business days.

Not what I thought

Bought this unit recently. Seemed cheaply built to my previous KitchenAid washer 8 years ago as we had multiple problems with the electronic panel. Figured we'd go with another KitchenAid. Top utensil rack is rather useless and just takes up room by the way.

Best Appliance in our new Kitchen

My husband was responsible for choosing the (2) dishwashers in our new kitchen. We jointly chose the sub zero fridge and Wolf range. I have had to compliment my husband numerous times because I have never loved a dishwasher the way I love these Kitchen Aid dishwashers. They are quiet. They run for an appropriate amount of time. The dishes and utensils are clean and i love the traditional set up of a utensil basket and ALSO a third top shelf for small lids and large flat serving pieces. I have had other dishwashers and never been happy. These make me want to shout out from the roof tops "look no further"! We put panels on them so they are a very subtle presence in our kitchen but they are the hardest working and the most understated appliances we have. LOVE Kitchen Aid.

Awful brand new home dishes are still dirty & wet

I bought this dishwasher a month ago and it is awful! Dishes are still dirty and soaking wet, I have tried 3 different soaps, adding rinse aid, reading the manual and nothing works. It has a drying setting but doesn't dry, seems counter intuitive to me!? I can sort of live with the wet dishes but having them still be dirty is unacceptable this has never happened to me with my other unit. I have had to hand wash most of the dishes after the cycle! Also, like other reviewers items don't fit when loading and inside is cheap plastic and very flimsy. This is not OK for $1000+ dishwasher, my Bosch was way better. You can do better Kitchenaid, very disappointed.

difficult to turn on

i have had several kitchen appliances and have been generally very satisfied. After 10 years I had to replace a kitchen aid dishwasher with a new one. No brainer right? The directions say I have to run the hot water before I start the cycle. Then press the button. Easy right? Not so much, it goes on after about 10 attempts and at that point i've pushed the buttons so many times ihave not idea what combo turns it on. Sometimes I just lean against the door and the machine starts????!!!! For heavens sake... I have not idea how to turn on the pro cycle or any of the others because I get so frustrated just trying to start a regular cycle. I have called for service for a lesson on how to turn the machine. Other than that when it does complete a cycle and not just rinse...it works great.

Love this dishwasher

We have it for a few months and I love it!! It's super quiet, there is some much room to put dishes (much more than any previous dishwashers I ever had) so great design!!! And most important it does the job!! I don't have to rinse anything at all! Highly recommend it.
